Non-human intelligence · No. 03

The Sirian

Also called linked to the Nommo

Described as
Varied: some accounts describe tall humanoids, others graceful water-dwelling beings.
Said to come from
Sirius, the brightest star in Earth's night sky: a double star in Canis Major, only about 8.6 light years away.
First reported
Interest grew from anthropologists' 1950s reports of Dogon star knowledge in Mali, and from Robert Temple's 1976 book The Sirius Mystery, which linked Sirius to the amphibious Nommo of Dogon tradition.
Known for
Teaching. They are said to keep knowledge safe across generations.

The legend

Ancient Egypt timed its calendar to the rising of Sirius. Modern stories imagine its people as patient teachers who shared knowledge with early civilisations.
